Cody Francis,
I really liked the black and white pictures in this book and started to smile at the repeated parts!
Thaís,
Felt like reading classic childhood books from other countries :)
Marsha I,
Always remember that some days are like that。 Even in Australia。
Ashley Adams,
A true classic。 Everyone can relate to a day that has been terrible, horrible, no good, and very bad from the very beginning。

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a children’s picture book written by Judith Viorst and illustrated by Ray Cruz。 This children’s book is a Georgia Children’s Book Award winner and was awarded the George G。 Stone Center Recognition of Merit。 This book, along with The Polar Express, was my favorite book growing up。 Re-reading this book gave me such nostalgia of my childhood。 Ray Cruz’s illustrations are so unique and so beautifully depict Alexander’s frustrations and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a children’s picture book written by Judith Viorst and illustrated by Ray Cruz。 This children’s book is a Georgia Children’s Book Award winner and was awarded the George G。 Stone Center Recognition of Merit。 This book, along with The Polar Express, was my favorite book growing up。 Re-reading this book gave me such nostalgia of my childhood。 Ray Cruz’s illustrations are so unique and so beautifully depict Alexander’s frustrations and raw emotions from the day。 In this book, Alexander describes his terrible day。 He wakes up in a mad mood, he has a fight with his best friend, his teacher favors other students over him, his mother forgets to put dessert in his lunch, his dentist tells him he has a cavity, and he causes chaos at his father’s work。 I rated this book a 5/5 because of the illustrations and Alexander’s relatable experiences。 Everyone has suffered from days where it seems like everything goes the wrong way and the world is against us。 However, this book is a great reminder that everyone has bad days, and it is important to appreciate the good days。 While this book has a silly tone, it is a feel-good, humorous, and relatable story。 。。。more
Janine,
Omg this book killed me! Now I can see why it is a children’s classic。 I feel Alexander on a spiritual level and I totally want to buy a copy of this book for myself and my future kids。 Such a great read for all ages!
Chibimagic,
Cute book。 Saw it in a Little Library, and vaguely remembered it from when I was little。I really thought it would be better。 I thought there would be some theme other than “some days are bad”, or more plot, considering they made a full length movie out of this。 Nope, just a standard throwaway book with a standard throwaway plot。
Grandma M,
Idk - Alexander gripes way too much for me。 Guess it could be read on a bad day。
Faron,
Very good book I love the parts where he says he’s having a terrible horrible no good day

Really good。 Really liked it。
Villain E,
Um。 Alexander has a day where everything goes wrong。 The end。 I mean, what? The art isn't bad。 Interesting that this is based on the author's own son。 But I would have liked a more positive resolution。 Um。 Alexander has a day where everything goes wrong。 The end。 I mean, what? The art isn't bad。 Interesting that this is based on the author's own son。 But I would have liked a more positive resolution。 。。。more
Kristine,
Read this to my daughters over and over。 Then they read it to me over and over when they learned to read。 And now 40 years later, when any of us has a bad day we say “think I’ll move to Australia。”

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst won the ALA Notable Children’s Book Award and the George G。 Stone Center Recognition of Merit for the book。 This book is very relatable in that when things go wrong, Alexander gets upset about it。 I'm sure that even we as adults still feel this way。 I rated this book the way I did because I liked the relatability of it。 The illustrations were very nice。 This book would be appealing to children older than 5 because they Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst won the ALA Notable Children’s Book Award and the George G。 Stone Center Recognition of Merit for the book。 This book is very relatable in that when things go wrong, Alexander gets upset about it。 I'm sure that even we as adults still feel this way。 I rated this book the way I did because I liked the relatability of it。 The illustrations were very nice。 This book would be appealing to children older than 5 because they have more of a grasp on emotion that much younger children so they can relate more to the book。 。。。more
Roberta,
Read this one to the little one, who is currently having a terrible, horrible, no good day, very bad day。 Although the little one liked the story… I will definitely have to read this classic over again。
Nancy,
I read "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" to my kids when they were young。 Sometimes, I read it just for myself。 I love this book。 One of my favorite narrators--Johnny Heller*--is reading it, so I had to listen。 It is just as good now as it was almost 30 years ago。*Johnny Heller had me lmao when he read, "Bite。 Bite。 Bite。" in Christopher Moores' "Noir。" I read "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" to my kids when they were young。 Sometimes, I read it just for myself。 I love this book。 One of my favorite narrators--Johnny Heller*--is reading it, so I had to listen。 It is just as good now as it was almost 30 years ago。*Johnny Heller had me lmao when he read, "Bite。 Bite。 Bite。" in Christopher Moores' "Noir。" 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book these illustrations were really nice and I really liked the message of the book。 I feel like this is a really good book to read in classrooms because it teaches kids that everyone goes through bad days and it's okay to experience them。 I really enjoyed this book these illustrations were really nice and I really liked the message of the book。 I feel like this is a really good book to read in classrooms because it teaches kids that everyone goes through bad days and it's okay to experience them。 。。。more

Realistic Fiction1st-4th gradeI think this book highlights the normalcy of having a bad day, and I think that because of that it would be good to read at the beginning of the year and to talk about patience with your classroom。 I think that having a discussion about how it is okay to have a bad day is important, and also talking about how as a teacher you might have bad days and as students they may have bad days, but telling them that it is important to talk to you as the teacher and let you kn Realistic Fiction1st-4th gradeI think this book highlights the normalcy of having a bad day, and I think that because of that it would be good to read at the beginning of the year and to talk about patience with your classroom。 I think that having a discussion about how it is okay to have a bad day is important, and also talking about how as a teacher you might have bad days and as students they may have bad days, but telling them that it is important to talk to you as the teacher and let you know what is going on。 Letting them know they can come to you even if they are having a bad day is something that might help with behavior management which may come into play at different points throughout the year。 I just think it is a fun book to help people relate。 。。。more

Judith Viorst won the ALA Notable Children’s Book Award and the George G。 Stone Center Recognition of Merit for her book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day。 Judith Voirst created a story that is relatable to many children。 When Alexander wakes up with gum in his hair, he just knows that the day will not go smoothly。 Alexander’s mood goes from grumpy to angry to mad as you follow him throughout the day。 NOTHING is going right for Alexander。 And as children sometimes do, Judith Viorst won the ALA Notable Children’s Book Award and the George G。 Stone Center Recognition of Merit for her book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day。 Judith Voirst created a story that is relatable to many children。 When Alexander wakes up with gum in his hair, he just knows that the day will not go smoothly。 Alexander’s mood goes from grumpy to angry to mad as you follow him throughout the day。 NOTHING is going right for Alexander。 And as children sometimes do, Alexander wishes he were somewhere else, like in Australia。 This story is written for children ages three to seven years old。 As you read about Alexander’s misadventures you cannot help but wonder what terrible, horrible, no-good thing is going to happen next。 As Alexander drifts off to sleep, he finally comes to the understanding that bad days happen everywhere, even in Australia。 Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is illustrated by Ray Cruz。 Ray Cruz drew most of this book in black and white。 He only used color when drawing Alexander。 Because this technique was used your focus is on Alexander。 You can clearly see in every one of Alexander’s expressions that he is truly having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day。 I did enjoy reading this book。 But I think that it would be better suited for children ages five years old and up。 I am giving this book five stars because the illustrations tell the story of Alexandar’s frustrations and troubles so well。 。。。more
